FAQS (Frequently Asked Questions)

Below are the most frequently asked questions about PLS’s PathLab Pro system..  In addition to reviewing these answers to these questions, you will want to visit the What’s New section for late-breaking news.

Question: Will PLS customize its system for our firm's specific requirements?
Answer: Yes. Customization is handled on a case by case basis.  To the extent that we have your data available and can modify our existing file structure, almost any modification request can be accommodated.

Question: Does the PathLab Pro system implement client/server technology?
Answer: Yes.  We incorporate client/server technology with full transaction processing.  Transaction processing ensures that data files which will be impacted by a single transaction will either be completely and correctly updated or no changes will be made at all.  This eliminates data corruption due to partial updates.  This is, of course, entirely transparent to the end user.

Question: Can our staff access the data in PathLab Pro’s files directly without using the PathLab Pro application?
Answer:
Yes.  The PathLab Pro system permits access to its data based on the security profile of the user.  All files are made available as Microsoft Access tables.

Question:  How much does PathLab Pro cost?
Answer: The cost to a firm is based on the complexity of its operation, the extent of customization required,  whether it is operating on a LAN or WAN, and the complexities of the conversion process from an older system to the PathLab Pro system.  The PathLab Pro system, however, costs substantially less than service bureaus and many other proprietary systems.
